Bea’s Kloset is a ‘free store’ for women and young girls transitioning to life on their own.
Using household items donated by downsizing seniors, friends of Soroptimists and other donors, our recipients are able to ‘shop for free’ for the household items they need.
Women and girls in our community can be referred to us from our partner social service agencies and have the opportunity to select items from Bea’s Kloset that will transform their new apartments into functional and comfortable homes.
Who Do We Help?
There are many reasons a woman or girl may need to access Bea’s Kloset. We have an established network of social workers and agencies, youth and family counsellors and school counsellors who watch over girls in foster care, girls pregnant or parenting at a young age, or women living in a recovery house.
When these women and girls age out of the foster care system, transition out of the recovery house, or are heading out to begin life on their own with their young children, Bea’s Kloset will help them fill their new home with everyday essentials. Applicants must be referred to Bea’s Kloset by one of our many partners.
On average, we have between 20-25 beneficiaries per month who shop at our volunteer-run “Kloset.”
How Can You Help?
Bea’s Kloset relies 100% on donations from the community, other organizations and people like you. If you have items in excellent condition that you no longer need, help us fill our shelves by sending an email to beaskloset@gmail.com to arrange an appointment with one of our donation volunteers. We also hold scheduled donation days.
