After graduating from Western University, Joan spent 30+ years in telecommunications sales and marketing. In 2013, she was recruited as the founding CEO of Canadian Business SenseAbility, a not-for-profit organization focused on helping businesses adapt their hiring and marketing practices to become more accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities. In 2015, Joan and her husband, Stephen, moved to Port Moody from Toronto to be closer to family. She joined the Soroptimists in 2022 and co-chaired the 2022 Dream It Be it Career Conference for teen girls. Joan also volunteers as a Master Gardener at Eagle Ridge Manor and Dixon House.
