Darlene has been volunteering since the age of 16. Beginning as a Candy Striper at Lions Gate Hospital, Board member at the Fountain of Hope (BMO’s Employees Charitable Division), Board Member Vancouver Foundation, Board Member Fraser Valley Development Centre, Billet Family for the Coquitlam Express. She joined Soroptimist in 2007 and has had several roles on the club board and at the region level was the Dream It Be It Chair . She was instrumental in starting our two signature projects Warm Place For Women and Bea’s Kloset and continues to Co-Chair Bea’s Kloset. She was the proud winner of the Soroptimist Frances Wagner Woman of Achievement Award in 2009. Professionally she worked for BMO Bank of Montreal for 32 years in personal lending. After numerous years in the branch she went out into the field as a Business Development Manager for Auto Finance and Mortgage Development Manager. She was one of the top 2 in Canada for many years in her role as Mortgage Development Manager. She has been happily married for 50 years and while they don’t have any children of their own, she has mentored many children she proudly calls her “Rent A Kids”.
