Darcel Moro

Director

Darcel has twenty-plus years as an entrepreneur, building creative opportunities for people to connect through community development/engagement, collective impact and through integrated events. She works for both non-profit and civic sectors as a project manager specializing as a community champion, communication animator, culture curator and event architect.

Darcel has a BSc in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo and a Certificate in Dialogue and Civic Engagement from Simon Fraser University. She is passionate about public participation, creating resilient neighbourhoods, and fostering change in services and programs to include all members of society.

As a Soroptimist member, she has taken on the role of our social media storyteller and is one of our key event generators. Darcel coordinated the SI Western Canada award-winning “Wine, Women & Sport” and “Walk A Mile in Support of Gender Equality.” This is Darcel’s first year as a board member. When she is not working or volunteering, you can catch paddling with her women’s dragon-boat team, cycling or running. She invites all of you to come join her on the local trails, jumping off logs and skipping from rock-to-rock; she guarantees it will keep you energized and inspired!
